Cancer care in north Denver
North Suburban Medical Center is proud to be affiliated with Sarah Cannon. Through this affiliation, we are able to refer patients to some of Greater Denver’s best oncology specialists for comprehensive cancer care.
North Suburban is dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection through education and screenings. We offer the following cancer screenings:
- Breast cancer screening (mammogram)
- Lung cancer screening (low-dose CT scan)
- Colon cancer screening (colonoscopy)
If you are interested in a cancer screening not listed here, North Suburban can connect you to one of our network specialists who provides that cancer screening.
North Suburban will connect patients for comprehensive cancer care and treatment within our network of resources. However, if the surgical removal of cancer is necessary, we specialize in the removal of breast, urologic and gastrointestinal cancers.
Oncology nurse navigator
Our oncology nurse navigator, Evie Hughes, provides the support patients need from cancer discovery to recovery. Through our nurse navigator program, we connect patients with education, nutritional support, psychologists and our resources for continuity of care, which leads to better outcomes.
Evie received her education from Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. It was early in her training that she experienced the deep and profound connection that occurs when caring for someone with cancer.
I have been blessed to walk with many people on their cancer journey over the years. I learn something new about myself every time. It is truly the most rewarding career. I get to provide kindness, empathy and compassion for a living. Educating patients and their loved ones through the process is one of the most powerful gifts, and I find that to be an important constant in this position, said Evie.
Evie has been practicing oncology nursing since 2010 and holds a specialty certification in oncology, OCN. Evie lives in Westminster with her husband Scott and their son.
