North Suburban Medical Center’s Department of Radiology and Imaging provides a broad range of services to aid in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions and emergent injuries. We serve patients in our emergency room and hospital, while also offering an outpatient diagnostic imaging center.

Hospital imaging services
North Suburban offers the following imaging services within the hospital:
- Computed tomography (CT) scans

- Barium swallow tests
Barium swallow studies
A modified barium swallow (MBS) test uses X-ray imaging to diagnose problems with swallowing. Varying levels of barium are added to different foods and liquids, and the X-ray records your mouth and throat as you swallow. Barium is passed through the body harmlessly.
Barium swallow studies are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call (303) 450-3562 to make an appointment for a swallow study.
Outpatient Imaging Center
Our outpatient diagnostic imaging center in Thornton offers a range of services, including:
Full body bone densitometry test
This test uses X-ray technology to measure bone density for the detection and ongoing evaluation of osteoporosis.
Lung cancer screening
We offer low-dose computed tomography (CT) lung screenings for people at high-risk for developing lung cancer. Visit our pulmonary care page to learn if you may be a candidate for a CT lung cancer screening.
Comprehensive breast health services
Our Thornton Outpatient Imaging Center also offers a full range of breast health services, including screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, 3D mammograms, breast ultrasounds and stereotactic breast biopsies.
