Emergency Care for Pediatric Sports Injury, North Denver  

Participation in sports often means an injury or two. Typically, your child’s pediatrician can provide initial care for sprains, strains, tears and broken bones.If your child sustains a more serious injury, emergency care may be necessary. 

If Your Child Has These Symptoms, Visit the Pediatric ER

  • Your child is under 4 years old and cannot use the arm or bear weight the injured leg
  • The injured limb looks misshapen or the bone is protruding

If your child’s injury is accompanied by these symptoms, emergency care may be necessary: 

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Asks repetitive questions or has memory loss
  • Vomits more than once
  • Fever
  • Abdominal pain
  • Pain in the neck
  • Trouble breathing

North Suburban has three ERs in the North Denver area. Open 7 days a week, our main hospital emergency room has kid-sized medical equipment and cheerful private rooms to help calm our little patients. Plus, our pediatric ER is staffed by pediatric-trained emergency nurses and board-certified pediatricians from the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, who provide the highest level of care.
