Thornton, CO, January 14, 2019 – North Suburban Medical Center recently announced the appointment of Katie Bird to Director of Telemetry Services.
Bird is a familiar HealthONE face having worked at The Medical Center of Aurora, a HealthONE facility, in various roles since 2015. Most recently she held the position of Nurse Manager overseeing the hospital’s top performing telemetry unit. While in this position, Bird improved the unit’s patient experience scores, increased employee engagement and co-led multiple successful interdisciplinary initiatives positively impacting quality facility-wide.
“I have personally worked with Katie and know her to be a positive, engaged leader that has successfully led her team to excellence,” said Angie Voigt, Chief Nursing Officer at North Suburban Medical Center. “I am confident that she will be a fantastic addition to our Telemetry team.”
Telemetry units care for patients in critical condition who need constant monitoring and care. The patients cared for on these units are often recently released from the intensive care unit and many have a higher risk for developing complications. The telemetry unit, including the centralized telemetry monitoring technicians, at North Suburban has 65 staff members, and cares for more the majority of the patients who come to the hospital.
Bird has a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree, is a Registered Nurse (RN), and is PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program, with an emphasis in leadership and health care systems, at the University of Colorado Anschutz with an anticipated graduation in 2021.
Bird joined North Suburban on January 4, 2019.
