What is the Leapfrog Group?
Administered on behalf of employers and other purchasers, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the nation’s only rating system focused entirely on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is reviewed by a National Expert Panel and receives guidance from the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at Johns Hopkins Medicine. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. It is updated every six months, once in the fall and once in the spring.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades assess than 2,600 hospitals across the country. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades assign an easy to understand grade to general acute-care hospitals in the United States - “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” and “F” letter grades.

North Suburban Medical Center has received an "A" grade in patient safety from the Leapfrog group for the last ten reporting periods (Fall 2014 through Spring 2019), making North Suburban the only hospital in the North Metro Denver area to receive ten consecutive "As" for safety. What does this mean for our patients and their families?
North Suburban takes the safety and well-being of patients very seriously, and we have implemented a culture dedicated to safety. Safety includes many things such as preventing falls, medication errors, and staff handwashing to prevent infection, giving medications to prevent additional health problems (i.e. blood clots), effectively communicating discharge instructions, and more. North Suburban also has a 24/7 ICU Intensivist on site, which reduces hospital acquired infections and condition.
Hospitals with an “A” grade from the Leapfrog group have demonstrated a dedication to keeping patients safe while in care at a hospital, and have strict measurements and guidelines for staff around safety.
